Alba Photographic Society

A very warm welcome to everyone as we begin the 2026/27 season here at Alba Photographic Society. As the nights darken and the days grow shorter, we once again gather to do what we do best: drink tea, talk photography, and occasionally remember to take photographs.

This year promises to be an exciting one, filled with opportunities to learn, create, and be inspired. Our programme has been carefully shaped to strike a balance between the practical and the inspirational. We’ll have hands‑on events throughout the year where you can put techniques into practice, experiment with your cameras, and all going well…capture a few masterpieces along the way.

We’re also placing a strong focus on coaching and skills development. Whether you want to refine your composition, master lighting, or finally make peace with your post‑processing software, there will be sessions designed to help you build confidence and technique. Our critique nights will give us all a chance to fine‑tune our artistic vision, share ideas, and discover how a small tweak can make a big difference.

Alongside this, we’re delighted to welcome a number of inspiring guest speakers—accomplished photographers who will share their insights, experiences, and creative approaches. Their talks are always a highlight of the year, offering fresh perspectives and plenty of motivation to try something new.

Above all, Alba Photographic Society is about community. It’s about sharing our work, learning from one another, and enjoying the company of people who understand the joy—and occasional frustration—of chasing the perfect image. I encourage you all to take part, ask questions, and share your knowledge. The more we contribute, the richer the experience becomes for everyone.

Although, due to family circumstances, I may not be able to enjoy the first part of the year alongside you all; I do look forward to seeing your growth, enjoying your fantastic images and hearing about your photographic experiences in the near future.

Wishing you all the best,

Bob Harvey

President
